ribs

Placement of ribs and heart, in chalk. The chalk rubs off pretty quickly, so I'll probably paint this up this evening before sketching in the pelvis and femurs.

Radish Necklace repair.

So I completed this necklace a while ago... but then it broke on the chain. So I did the repair on it yesterday finally... it may not be finishing something completely today, but at least I got something off that to-do list of procrastination...
here is a close up of the repaired clasp w. radish loop:
....and just for kicks an old photo of what the radishes looked like in the process of hammering them out for the piece... I really like how bulbous this photo is!

The aristocracy

Soft soft soft puffball creamsicle with eyes like eyes like the pale blue of my china-patterned comfortor. An offended expression, more or less constantly. Dainty and proper, except when meowing plaintively, repetitively, for mysterious reasons. Always in the right. Master of her domain. At ease with making demands for her proper due.

He with his bass drum purr, aggressively seeking cuddles and just as abruptly departing for shores unknown. Thick in body and mind. Startled into flight by sudden noise, like a sneeze or a vacuum cleaner starting. Prone to careening into walls when moving fast, despite his lordly demeanor at more manageable speeds.

They run the household in the small matters important to them. Betrayed and bewildered by the occasional presence of Dog.  Willing to forgive all once obedience is rendered.

Sugarskull Tuesday

More costume practice

Radish for Narrative...

I started making this piece 6 months ago, but stopped just short of finishing it. It's a bit of a protection amulet pendant in a way... I started hammering out images of this very German vegetable recently to illustrated my triumphs and frustrations with the place.... ENJOY!

Moar Glass!

Here are the things that came out of the annealer today:

We've been learning double overlay technique in our glass color class, and the picture doesn't do it justice, but I'm super pleased with the inside color on this piece.

Stripey cup!

In My Neighborhood

This was a true story. I am almost certain that none of the people involved knew each other.

I’m sitting in ally thinking when I see woman walk past in short skirt and high heels.
Man’s voice from house behind me:  Whooooie, girl.
Woman’s voice:  How you doing?
Man: Fine.
Woman: You gonna invite me in before I catch a cold?
Man: Don’t you gotta get home?
Woman: Ain’t nobody waiting for me there.
Man: Well I guess you better come in then.

Costume research

Sunday & Monday

I'm working on a Halloween costume. Yesterday I gathered source material and began practicing the shapes.

Today: Getting more ideas on paper

2 versions of self

Backdated post for Friday. Composite of two self portraits taken through prism eye glasses, and digital tom-foolery. I don't at all like the results but in the spirit of experimentation and flexing of the creative muscles, I'm posting anyway.
