‘So how do you do it?' they asked, amazed -
'So calm and collected, together, unfazed?
So zenlike, so peaceful! If only we knew,
Then we'd have effortless composure like you!'
'What is it?' they pressed, ‘Tell us your secret!’
'Religion - or sedation?' they articulated.
'Just answer!' they begged. I sighed, 'I admit:
It's simple, not easy - I don't give a shit.'
Lovely. Reminds me of Dorothy Parker.
ReplyDeleteHere's the Parker one I was thinking of. But yours has more suspense:
ReplyDelete“If I didn't care for fun and such,
I'd probably amount to much.
But I shall stay the way I am,
Because I do not give a damn.”
I'm flattered by the comparison! Thank you. :)
