Failed posting over the weekend. On the drive to California, started going through the "Famous Artists Cartoon Course" (a now public domain cartoon drawing course that was written in the 50's). Step 1 is to draw a bunch of spherical head shapes in different directions.
Hee, awesome! ...I know it's an artifact of the time, but it's hard to avoid noticing that every face (except maybe one?) is Caucasian and only two are female...
ReplyDeleteThe model they have was a white male. It's funny to see the bigotry in the book as it progresses. There's a lot of stuff about drawing "cute gals" later
