John Deere RSVP
A moment to write, while the dough is rising
before I slip under the quilt awaiting the next cock a
doodle do.
Friend, saying I do
meant I do I do I do.
So forgive my not making your wedding next month
when this belly will become
another baby
unless it’s late.
Like this year’s corn
owed to our neighbor
in trade for the tractor.
His steel for our kernels.
Dear one, today I’d trade all my crops to see you say you
do.
Today, I’d trade all my crops to see you well.
And as for the dough, I punch, I shape, I wait.
I love this. The slow ripening of the dough, the corn, the baby. The sexy rooster. So excited to have you!!
